The second country on our trip was Vietnam and I think I can easily say that this was the most unique spot we visited and probably my favorite. Hanoi was loud, chaotic, hot and enchanting in a way I’d never experienced. Even crossing the street was a whole new experience. If you’ve never had Vietnamese food, I highly recommend it. Pho is one of our favorites and getting to eat it street side in its birthplace was incredible. Oh, and the coffee — it’s like dessert. We spent our nights at the beer corner, sipping local brews and eating peanuts from chairs meant for toddlers and watched in amazement as the police came by and the bar staff quickly whisked everyone off their chairs and onto the sidewalk to not break any rules. As soon as the police were gone, chairs went back into the street and the night continued.
We took a 2-day trip to HaLong Bay, one of the new seven natural wonders of the world, where we cruised around the stunning limestone karsts, explored in kayaks and hiked. If you’re in Vietnam, this beautiful spot is definitely worth a visit!
