Winter fully arrived in Chicago this past weekend and I can’t say I’m ready for it. We had such a warm December that I thought maybe we were in for a super easy winter, but alas, the super cold temperatures have finally arrived. The upside to winter being here is getting to wear all of my cozy layers!
On Saturday, I was thankful that I had put on all those layers, because I ended up being out of the house all day and it only got colder and colder! My cozy cardigan, long coat and cashmere hat (not pictured here) made all the difference while we were hopping from place to place. I’m also in love with my new bag that Rob got me for Christmas. It’s cross body which means I can stuff my hands in my pockets and big enough to hold my gloves, hat and scarf when we go indoors.
The day started with brunch at Beatrix with Shaheen, Jenn and Josh who was visiting from Kentucky. It was so much fun to see everyone, catch up and of course, enjoy my favorite brunch in the city — their power greens juice is my favorite!
By the time we left brunch it had started raining. Yuck. It soon turned to sleet and then snow just in time for Rob and I to meet friends for drinks at a new spot on Southport called Corridor Brewing & Provisions. While we were cozied up inside, the snow kept coming down.
We eventually ventured over to Guthrie’s Tavern for another beer and board games. We played Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders and The Game of Life and I quickly realized that Candy Land was a lot more fun when I was 5 and that Life was actually still a really fun game! We finished our night with burgers at DMK before heading home to snuggle with Oliver.
This week has definitely been the coldest one all winter, so be expecting more cozy, layered looks on here and on Instagram…. that is, if I decide to venture outside! Hope you’re staying warm this week!
