How to Dress for a Brisk Fall Day
There’s something about this time of year that reignites my travel bug. Maybe it’s that crisp cool air that gives my creativity a little boost, or maybe because we always do some traveling during the holidays, even if it’s just to our parents’ homes. Last year, we went to Istanbul and Italy over Thanksgiving and it was so much fun, and I think that’s why I’ve had a serious itch to go somewhere lately. But where to?!
Rob and I have been lucky enough to travel a lot and there are so many places that we’ve completely fallen in love with—Copenhagen, Barcelona, Vietnam, Aspen, London—the list could go on and on. Whenever we’re planning a trip, deciding where to go is always a struggle. We debate over whether we should go back and further explore one of the places we love, or go somewhere that we’ve never been. The real trouble is that both lists continue to grow, making every trip a bit harder to plan, but let’s real, I’m not complaining!
Three years ago, we spent a week over the new year holiday in Belgium and Paris. It was our second trip to Belgium, but my first to Paris, and as most people do, I fell in love. Even in the cold, the city was absolutely breathtaking! Ever since that trip, I’ve been dying to go back. And, guess what?
In mid-January, Rob and I are hopping across the pond for a little over a week to explore some new to us places, and spend a few more days in Paris. I’ve already been thinking about what to pack! I know there will be lots of outfits like this one I picked up at Nordstrom. When packing for longer trips, I always try to bring versatile pieces like neutral sweaters, jeans and shoes that match with everything. I’ve worn this cozy sweater several times since it arrived—it’s super soft and cozy and I love the cable detailing on it. It’s cropped and looks super cute with high-waisted jeans too! I got these booties at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale earlier this year—great buy, I’ve worn them here too.
A few weeks before we leave, I always realize I need a few last minute things and I love that Nordstrom offers free shipping to make my life easier. I’m totally bringing this scarf on our trip to Paris too! This wine-color has been my favorite all season (more wine/oxblood looks here, here and here) and the pom-poms are too cute!
Some of my favorite moments from our last trip to Paris were having champagne on random sidewalk cafés, exploring Montmartre, eating onion soup and croque monsieur and seeing the Eiffel Tour in person. We don’t have much planned this trip yet, but if you have any recommendations on places to eat or unique things to do, let me know!
What’s one place you want to visit again? What kind of outfits do you pack for winter travel?
