You might be thinking, “healthier brownies? why bother!” and for a while I was too. Before trying these, my thoughts on sweets were that they were a treat. As long as I didn’t indulge too often, I might as well just go for the real thing! And, I still believe that’s mostly true, but these avocado brownies have me changing my mind.
I honestly wasn’t expecting much an avocado brownie recipe, but I’m sold! The avocado adds a creamy and fudgy texture to the brownies that makes them feel like such an indulgence, when in reality, they’re really not! They’re the perfect balance of sweet and chocolatey too!
I opted for dark chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate which was a great choice. These brownies would be perfect on their own, but for the holidays, I love the addition of crushed peppermint candies on top. Not only do they taste delicious, but they look festive too!
Last fun fact, these are actually gluten-free too! I didn’t plan it that way, but decided to use almond meal instead of flour which worked perfectly.
