Say it Ain’t So
September’s arrival meant very little than the start of school in Texas. It was still sweltering and humid with temperatures well into the 90s throughout the whole month. Even though September was technically considered a fall month, it was basically an extension of summer.
In Chicago, it’s a different story. It’s as if someone upstairs sounds an alarm, “calling all the clouds and cool weather! September has arrived, let’s bring in the good stuff!” And instantly, the weather starts changing and the sun sets earlier and earlier each night. It’s a bittersweet month for me. The short summer that we get is suddenly over, but on the flip side, my favorite season is arriving! While I love fall, it also sadly means that winter isn’t far behind. Ugh, I have a love hate relationship with this city and it’s weather.

Even thought summer is coming to an end, I really feel like we made the most of it this year. For once we didn’t have out of town weddings every other weekend, and when we were in town, we went out with friends, ate on the patio, had people over to our pool, grilled out, tried new restaurants and floated the river in Indiana. I even worked on the patio or by the pool a few days to soak up every little bit I could get.

But I’m getting into a new rhythm, a slower one and it feels good. I’ve been reaching for easy pieces like ripped jeans and simple blouses. I love this one that I picked up at Ann Taylor. The little dots are cute! And I have my eye on this one from Anthropologie and this simple white one from TopShop.
