September 27, 2017 Living 10 Ways to Celebrate the Start of Fall Pin44 Share3 Tweet Reddit StumbleShares 47 Image from this Post I, like most people, absolutely adore fall and am so excited it’s here! (I’m pretty sure it’s the universal favorite season, right?) With last week kicking off the official start, I’ve began doing and planning little things to celebrate this refreshing time of year. Even if you don’t want to spend a bunch of money, there are endless ways to ring in the season. Whether you want to incorporate simple changes to your routine or go full-out with a fall-themed event, here are 10 ideas to consider. Fun Things to Do in Fall Shopping Obviously! After putting away my summer clothes and pulling out cold-weather options, I take inventory of what I’m missing. Usually a couple sweaters are looking sad, I want an updated go-to pair of jeans and slides, and a new jacket is always in the cards. The ShopBop Sale is going on right now, so stock up on your fall favorites. Yesterday we shared a bunch of great pieces, all under $100. Even if you’re not a huge beer fan, I find it exciting trying something new – it just has to be a taste! Find a brewery with good food and you’ll be happy either way. Swap out Home Decor I keep my decor pretty minimal throughout the year, but I enjoy making small swaps to welcome fall. Whether it’s a green wreath at my front door or fall-colored place mats, it’s an easy way to spruce up the pad. I’m especially into marigold, Forrest green, and metallics this year. Turn on your JavaScript to view content Try a “Hot” Class During summer, I basically choose my workout classes based on who has the best AC. So once fall hits, it’s the ideal opportunity to try a heated class—something I can’t think about during summer. Hot yoga has been around for a while, but heated Pilates is on my list this fall. Especially after a cold day or first thing in the morning. Host a Football or Baseball Party I’m a huge sports fan, which is another reason fall is my favorite (there’s a lot going on in the sports world!). If you’re a football household, think about a Saturday or Sunday full of football and fall treats. If you like baseball, host a happy hour for playoffs. Or, go to a game, tailgate, and celebrate in person! Refresh your Beauty Routine My skin is definitely more sensitive with cold weather, so September is when I start changing up my routine. I add a thicker cream to go over serums at night, and apply a heavier eye and lip treatment as well. I’m also an advocate for doubling up on lotion + oil on my face and body. Just make sure the oil goes on last since it’s the thickest, but it’s a killer combo for dry, dull skin. Turn on your JavaScript to view content Go Apple Picking I’ve actually never been apple picking, but I’m making it happen this year. I’d love to make an entire weekend out of it and even stay on an apple farm. Anyone have great recommendations for farms on the West Coast? This could be a romantic trip with a loved one, or even fun to do with a group of friends. Have a Bonfire or Backyard Fire Pit Once things cool off, grab a bunch of blankets and sit out by a fire pit. Bring a bottle of wine, maybe some smores, and enjoy relaxing under the stars. A perfect cozy, affordable night! Make your Favorite Fall Treat To me, you can’t celebrate a new season without appropriate food. Who agrees? I’m actually not into pumpkin, but I make sure to bake a sweet potato pie or something with apples ASAP. If you really enjoy cooking, bring a fall treat into work or a homeless shelter to share the love. PS, if you aren’t a pumpkin spice latte drinker either, try asking for a half and half (half hot coco, half coffee) which similarly feels like fall! Go to a Pumpkin Patch or Carve a Pumpkin I mean, it’s a must! Even if you don’t like the act of carving, picking up a few pumpkins at the pumpkin patch will provide all the fall feels. Snuggle up on the couch with a scary movie after to get the full effect. BTW, fall colors you need in your closet right now, and how to wear stripes this fall.
