Last week the temperature dipped below 65 and I got that warm fuzzy feeling that only comes when my favorite season rolls in. Fall is easily my favorite time of the year. Our weekends are filled with lazy mornings walking Oliver, football games and city wandering, and finished with a slow-cooked dinner on Sunday evening.
Every fall I have a list of things I want to do that season, a bucket list of sorts, and this year I’m determined to actually make them happen.
Trip to the Farmer’s Market
I already knocked this one off the list, go me! One thing I love about Chicago is that there are Farmer’s Markets in so many different neighborhoods. There’s one near our house, but it’s pretty small and I’d been dying to check out Green City Market, so I finally made it happen. I loved it!
There were so many more stands and I loved that it was in the park! It’s open Wednesday and Saturdays and if you want to avoid the crowds, come Wednesday, and bring a big bag, because you’ll definitely come home with some goodies!
There’s tons of apple orchards around Chicago and I’ve always wanted to go pick my own apples! It’d be a fun little outing and think of what all you could make with those apples!
Learn How to Make a Pie From Scratch
All those apples have to go somewhere right? I’ve always wanted to learn how to make a proper pie. One with a good flaky, homemade crust and a pretty lattice-design on top. We got a pie dish when we got married and I still haven’t used it—shhh, don’t tell!
This one has been one my list for a long time, but I think fall would be the perfect time to go. It’s a hiking trail just outside the city. I love hiking so much and I honestly can’t believe I still haven’t done this yet.
Make Pumpkin Bread
I’m not a big baker, but one of my favorite things to make in fall is pumpkin bread. Oh, I also love to eat it too! You can find my go-to recipe right here.
I also really want to go to a pumpkin patch and bring Oliver. We don’t even have a doorstep to display them on, but I still think it’d be a fun fall thing to do, don’t you!?
What’s on your fall bucket list this year?
