Isn’t it crazy that the older you get, the less importance you put on birthdays that aren’t major milestones (think 21, 30, 40, 50). I’m turning 28 this Sunday and I actually had to double check with Rob to make sure that was the age I was turning this year.
To be honest, I’ve never really been big on birthdays. I don’t like to overlook them completely, but I’m also totally okay with a small, modest get together or dinner out at one of Rob and I’s favorite spots.
Since Rob will be at a bachelor party in Miami this week, I decided to host a little birthday brunch at my place with a few of my best girl friends. I’m excited to show off our new digs and also hang out with all my favorite girls at once! That doesn’t happen very often.
As I mentioned last week, when it comes to hosting parties, I’m all about ease. I want to be able to enjoy my party just as much as my guests! The key to that is make ahead brunch recipes that can easily be prepared beforehand and don’t require a lot of hands on time after guests arrive. I know I’m going to make some sort of egg dish, probably a simple salad and most definitely mimosas. There’s only one picture of that because I’ve already made my mind up about whether or not that’s going to be at the party. DUH. For a little something sweet, I’ll pick up some donuts at my favorite spot, Stan’s Donuts.
I’m crossing my fingers that we have great weather and that we can eventually move our party from my living room to the roof deck. Is it weird that I’m more excited about this than a fancy brunch out? I think I’m turning into more and more of a home body.
