6 Reasons To Love Denim on Denim
Did everyone have a wonderfully merry Christmas? I know we did (more on that later)! The weather here has been so much nicer than it was in Chicago and the sun has been shining constantly. After a busy year, it’s been amazing to really slow down and do nothing these past few days. We slept late almost every day, relaxed and read a ton by the fire. Rob’s parents have this cute little area right by the kitchen with a fireplace and two cozy chairs—it’s my favorite place to curl up on chilly mornings.
Whenever I pack for Denver I have to remind myself that it’s a casual city. Chicago is pretty casual too, but when I’m in Denver I almost always find that I’m over-dressed. It doesn’t bother me, but I also don’t mind going casual! This look is honestly one of my favorites to pack. It’s probably because I can easily dress it up or down, but either way, it’s still got a casual enough vibe for Colorado! If you’re still wondering how to wear denim and denim, here’s six reasons to love this classic combo:
Yes, I did just say that, but I felt like it was worth repeating. Denim on denim is one of those outfits that has truly stood the test of time. The combination is simple, but classic. To make it your own, add accessories that fit your personality.
Easy to Accessorize
Since denim matches with just about anything, it’s easy to accessorize! I went all out with my denim on denim combination and added a unique pop of pattern with this Dooney & Bourke bag from the chevron denim collection at Macy’s. I love how the chevron pattern breaks up the simplicity of the outfit. Pops of color also work well! Macy’s has a huge selection of handbags and accessories and shipping is super fast! I also added a long vest for a little bit of warmth and this hat that I’ve been wearing like crazy. I love how it looks with my bangs!
Always in Style
I remember coming across a photo of my mom from when she was in college and you know what she’s wearing? Denim on denim. Sure the style of jeans and cut of the shirt has changed a bit, but it’s still just as classic of a combination now as it was then.
Can be Dressed up or Down
I love how versatile this outfit can be! You can wear it with booties, sneakers or even heels. Depending on what shoes, jacket, and bag you put with it, you can make your outfit as dressy or casual as you want!
You Already Own It
Answer me this? Do you have a pair of jeans? Duh. Do you have a chambray or denim shirt? Probably. Done. You’ve got the outfit!
Multiple Ways to Wear It
I’ve worn a chambray top with skinny jeans, ripped boyfriend jeans, light-washed jeans and ankle jeans. I love you can come up with so many different combinations. When the weather warms up, pair your chambray top with denim shorts or a denim skirt.
Are you a fan of denim on denim? What’s your go-to simple outfit?
