5 Ways to Incorporate Natural Products into your Skincare Routine

natural beauty

One thing that was really important to me when I found out I was pregnant was choosing safer, natural skincare products for my skin and beauty routines. So much of pregnancy feels out of your control, so making healthier choices where I could made me feel like I was doing something good for my body and my skin agrees!

It took me a long time, but now almost every product in my beauty cabinet has been switched out for a safer and more natural alternative (still on the hunt for a shampoo and conditioner I love-suggestion?). I won’t like though, it’s daunting to overhaul your entire skincare and beauty routine in one fell swoop! I definitely didn’t do it all at once. My recommendation is to start adding natural products to replace your old products as you run out of them. I felt guilty throwing away products that were still half full! Doing it this way will remove the guilt and save you money too. Plus, I find that I’m constantly learning about new brands and love trying new products, so adding them slowly worked well for me.

I was so excited to see that one of my favorite retailers, Nordstrom, has a whole beauty section devoted to natural skin care products. There are so many brands out there and navigating the skincare world can be overwhelming. It’s so nice to know that everything that’s in this category is formulated without harsh and toxic chemicals! If you’re looking to start making natural skincare swaps in your own routine, here’s a few good places to start:

Natural Skincare Products

Your Makeup Remover & Daily Cleanser

Most of us wash our faces at least once a day. Since this is a standard part of your skincare routine that happens everyday, it’s the perfect place to make a more natural switch. Start with a makeup remover that doesn’t strip your skin of all of it’s natural oils and doesn’t dry out your skin with harsh chemicals.

Once your skin is clean, grab a natural and gentle cleanser to wash your skin. I used to opt for stronger products to fight breakouts, but have learned that a gentle touch is better in the long run. A natural cleanser won’t damage your skin and leaves it more balanced!

Day & Night Moisturizer

Keeping your skin well-hydrated is one of the best ways to prevent aging and keeping it looking glowy! If you’re slowly moving your skincare products to natural ones, this is a great place to start. Since you apply these creams all over your face on a daily basis, it’s good to know it’s made from safe ingredients!

Skin Treatments

I’m a big fan of different skin treatments like serums and masks. Serums can target specific skin issues and make a huge difference since they’re more concentrated. I also love applying face masks several times a week. It’s a great way to exfoliate, give your skin an extra dose of hydration or brighten it—again, there’s a mask out there for just about any skin issue you’re having! Make sure to read the labels and directions correctly on these! Applying too much of a serum could dry out your skin or leaving a mask on too long could make it less effective!

Natural Face Oils

A year ago, I would have told you that putting oil on my oily skin was crazy. Fast forward to today and I’m a face oil convert! I love this Lapis one because it actually helps balance my skin’s oil production, but there are so many amazing ones out there. My mom loves this one for drier and aging skin (her aesthetician couldn’t believe how hydrated her skin was after a month of using it). Using a totally natural oil will ensure that the ingredients are safe and high-quality.

Natural Eye Treatments

Lastly, using a natural eye cream is a super smart idea! The skin around your eyes is incredibly delicate, so you want to be extra gentle. Eye cream can also easily get in your eye on accident and if you’re using an all-natural product then you don’t have to worry about what type of chemicals are getting in there!
