A few weeks ago I shared my favorite non-toxic sunscreens, so it seems fitting that a challenge around wearing sunscreen would soon follow. I finally got in a good routine about wearing SPF every day this summer and it’s my new secret to anti-aging! The less sun damage you have, the better off your skin will be in the long run. So, today’s challenge?

Wear Sunscreen Everyday

You might have guessed that, and maybe you already wear some form of SPF on your face everyday, but if you don’t, it’s time to start! I’m not just talking about the days you hit the beach either!

It’s easy to remember to apply sunscreen in the summer, but not so much in the winter when it’s cloudy and snowy. But, even though there’s not as much sun in the winter, those rays get through the clouds and can cause damage to your skin, so make sure you’re applying it year round.

My first thought when someone told me to wear sunscreen everyday was how gross it would be to rub thick sunscreen on my face and then apply makeup. Thankfully, so many makeup products already have built in SPF, so you don’t have to add that sticky layer.

Two of my all-time products are this Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20 (I wear color no. 2) and Eminence Sun Defense Minerals SPF 30. The tinted moisturizer is really a three-in-one product. You get moisture, sun protection and it acts like a very light foundation, which I love. If I want to go makeup free, I apply the mineral sun defense powder lightly over my whole face. Both products are non-toxic and good for your skin and the environment. I mention the environment because I recently learned that conventional sunscreens with the ingredient oxybenzone are damaging fragile coral reef systems—how sad is that?

So, wear sunscreen and make sure it’s safe! It’s better for you, your kids and the world! Do you wear SPF everyday?
