New Month, Fresh Start
Sometime in the middle of the month, I had this awful feeling wash over me. Suddenly I felt completely under prepared for everything coming in the next few months. I’ve shared some of my fears about becoming a mom and also my worries about taking a real maternity leave as an entrepreneur—why is there no roadmap for that? More than anything, I’m embarking on a totally new to me stage of life and while I’m incredibly excited, I also want to be ahead on things so I can take some time off and just enjoy it.
So, in early August, I decided that it was time to get ahead, so I dove in head first. Guys, I don’t think I’ve worked that hard in years. I got so much done, which felt amazing, but I definitely let my self-care regimen and health fall to the back burner. After doing all that work, it also left me feeling creatively drained. To top things off, I came down with a cold last week! I took that as a real sign that I needed to take a step back for a second.
I think I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m not good at slowing down. I like being busy and productive, but I’m forgetting that I just don’t have the energy that I used to now that I’m in my 3rd trimester. But, it’s a new month and that means a fresh start!
Last week, Shaheen and I had a lady day that really got me feeling more like myself. We shot outfits like we used to, went to lunch and spent time catching up. It’s funny to think how much both of our lives have changed in the past year, and I think we both had a lot of fun spending a day like we used to every week. Even though we had a busy day, I felt recharged and re-inspired at the end of our day and it’s just what I needed as we head into a new month and a new season.
I picked up this adorable green floral shirtdress at Anthropologie last week and wore it to lunch that day. Can you tell I’ve been crushing hard on green lately? Between this dress and this one (currently on sale!) that I wore in this post, this vivid color is one I love!
We walked over to Southport Grocery and sat on the patio and enjoyed the weather. The panzanella salad I had was so good and since we sort of felt like we were celebrating, we ordered the grown-up poptart for dessert—so worth it!
Fun Fall Flats
Thankfully all that hard work in August paid off and I finally feel more prepped, ready and excited! I only have a few more months left in my pregnancy and I just want to enjoy it and soak it all up before life really gets wild!
How was the end of your summer? Are you looking forward to a fresh start this month?
