Look One: Oversize Sweater, more colors here | Plaid Blanket Scarf, more colors | Flat Booties, under $70! | Skinny Jeans

When it comes to getting dressed for fall weather, there are a few essential pieces that I think every girl needs in her closet. I love getting dressed up, but let’s be honest—most days you’ll find me in jeans, a simple top and booties. The rest of my essential pieces for fall outfits are basics, but I get so much use out of them every year! And, that’s what makes them so necessary!

Cozy Fall Fashion Trends

Oversized Sweaters

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen my story where I was complaining that a bunch of my tops now look like crop tops. Enter the oversized sweater—a pregnant lady’s dream! And, great when you’re not pregnant too because they’re so cozy and warm. I ended up getting this one from Modcloth in blue and pink, but it comes in a few more colors here and is only $55! If you’ve never shopped at Modcloth, they have really awesome prices and a huge selection of adorable pieces for fall!

Cardigans

I think I’ve proclaimed my love for the cardigan, especially the oversized, long cardigan, but if you don’t own one already, you’re missing out. I wear one nearly everyday! Yes, even in the warmer months because I’m always cold! It’s the perfect layering piece and a great way to add texture or color to an outfit. They’re small and easy to throw in your bag just in case you end up at a spot that’s colder than you thought it would be (story of my life). If you’re new to the cardigan game, I love this one because the color goes with everything!

Look Two: Striped Button-Up | Oatmeal Cardigan | Flat Booties | Skinny Jeans

Booties

While I love boots, I’m really more of a booties girl. Plus, boots are sometimes a little too warm and heavy for this time of the year. Heeled or flat–I love them both and have several pairs of both because I wear them with everything. I have been gravitating towards flat pairs or lower heels lately because my back has been hurting, ha! This pair is cool, casual and really really comfortable!

Button Ups

Button-ups are perfect for layering and I like to stock up on them in cute patterns and colors. I love the colors of this striped one! It’s sort of a wine-red and is such a classic. Normally I wear a small, but I sized up for the bump!

Plaid

Last, but not least, plaid is a must for the season! I’m not normally a “preppy” dresser, but I do love a good plaid. What’s great is that most plaid blanket scarves have so many colors in them, making them easy to pair with so many different tops! I adore the colors in this one, but make sure to check out the other color ways too, they’re all beautiful!

So, tell me, are these essential fall pieces in your closet? Which items are essential in your eyes?

BTW, have you read any good books lately, and my favorite colors for fall.
