As you probably already know, I was in Punta Mita Mexico last weekend for a bachelorette party. The weekend was pretty incredible. Why? It was definitely not your typical bachelorette party and I loved it. Don’t get me wrong, we had our fair share of fun, but it was a lot more relaxing than other b-parties I’d been on in the past and I would always pick this over a wild, boozy weekend. Well, at least my more mature self thinks so.
I left Chicago to meet the rest of the group in Dallas and then fly from there to Mexico. That morning was rough.
I had to wake up at 4:30am and then our flight was delayed and I barely, I mean barely caught my connecting flight. You should have seen me running like a maniac through the airport with my bag and floppy hat flying behind me. I’m sure I looked like a crazy person, but it was totally worth it. We pushed back from the gate about 2 minutes later, phew!
Our first afternoon was spent sipping drinks by the pool while we waited for one more friend to arrive from California (p.s. check out our ‘California friend’ Cheney’s awesome dog portraits!). The sunshine and heat felt amazing after last week’s weird Chicago weather. I took advantage of the beach and played in the waves — am I too old for that? Whatever, I don’t care. I’m a beach girl at heart and crave salty skin and sand. Something about it just melts away stress and worries.
The rest of our trip was a whole lot of sun, sand and long meals where we chatted for hours. It was such a fun trip because I knew everyone and I was thankful for all the time I had to catch up with friends I rarely get to see.
I came back feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, but my flight from Dallas to Chicago was unexpectedly cancelled and really got my whole week messed up. With a long to-do list before my trip to London I’ve been really overwhelmed this week, but I’m looking forward to a lazy night at home with some vino and an early bedtime.
Even though my week wasn’t totally what I hoped it would be productivty-wise, I’m so thankful for a weekend away and what it does for my soul! Do you feel the same when you get back from vacation?
I didn’t take as many pictures as I’d hoped — I was worried about getting sand in my camera, but I took a bunch on Instagram, including the most vibrant sunset I’ve ever seen and my new favorite swimsuit and coverup!
