We’ve hit that weird point in the year where the seasons are changing—it’s no longer summer, but it’s not quite fall either. I love this time of the year because it feels like a fresh start for some reason. Maybe it’s the cool air when I take Oliver out on our morning walks that just puts me at ease, or the shorter days that make me shut down my computer earlier, pour a cup of tea and slow down. My nights with Rob feel calmer and so much more enjoyable, and you better believe I’m soaking up all of that before they’re filled with baby cries, messes and general craziness.
The only thing I don’t love about this time of the year is the state of my closet. It’s a hot mess. I’ve pulled out some fall stuff, but there’s not enough room for both that and my summer stuff (city living problems, right?), so there are stacks of sweaters and boots cluttering the floor. I’m ready to switch over my summer and fall stuff, but we still have the occasional warm, sunny day where sandals and sun dresses feel totally appropriate. Since winter is long, I like to make use of those pieces for as long as possible, but at the same time, I love dressing in cute fall outfits. It’s my favorite season! Anyone else?
I usually gravitate towards a simpler color scheme in the fall and winter, but lately, I’m loving jewel tones. These rust and navy tones feel easy, classic, but also festive and fun! My closet will likely be filled with more pieces in the jewel-tone family like forest greens, rich purples and deep reds. They scream fall and are flattering on just about everyone.
Since it’s not totally fall yet, I paired this outfit with my favorite tassel sandals one more time before I pack them up for next spring and this leopard bag. A leopard clutch is essential if you ask me! It adds such personality to any outfit and can really be treated as a neutral (you can see other ways I’ve styled it here, here, here and here).
Have you transitioned to fall yet? What colors do you love wearing during this season?
