Kitties
This splurge was five years in the making.
I’m not sure if that necessarily justifies my purchase, but it made me feel better about it. From the moment I spotted these adorable velvety cat-faced flats I knew I needed a pair. Yes, I’m more of a dog person, but I grew up with cats and love the playfulness of these shoes. I remember thinking, I don’t care how much these are, I’m getting them.

And, then I clicked on them and realized just how much they actually cost.
I was heart-broken. How? Why?! I couldn’t afford these—forget those last words. I had rent, bills and dog food to buy. So I put them on the back-burner and forgot about them for a while.
Until last year when I received a gift card to Neiman Marcus and the beloved kitty flats popped back into my brain. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity. I could at least get them at a better price, right?! But, alas, they were out of the color I wanted—navy velvet—and I wasn’t going to settle for a different color at this point. I’d waited 4 years already, what was one more?
I was bummed, the kitties had pounced just out of my reach again.

But a few weeks ago, I was browsing and there they were. I nervously clicked, assuming my size would be sold out, but it wasn’t! I was cutting it close though—there was only one pair left in my size. Was it meant to be? I thought so.
I didn’t have to think too hard about it, I mean, I’d been wanting them for the past five years. So, I double checked my closet to make sure I was ordering the right European size and clicked ‘Buy’.
I have to admit that I had a lot of gift cards stocked up from birthdays and holidays, so I didn’t have to pay that much out of my own pocket which made my decision a lot easier. When the box arrived, I ripped it open like a kid on Christmas. I hadn’t been that excited for a package in a long time.

Guess what? The wait was worth it.
These flats are every thing I hope they’d be and more. Insanely comfortable, chic, yet playful. The velvet is the most gorgeous shade of deep-sea blue and are already my new most-prized pair of shoes. I don’t splurge like this often, and when I do, it’s because it’s something I totally love. I’ll be wearing these cute flats all fall and winter long (except for when it’s snowing).
Have you splurged on anything for yourself lately? What pieces do you have on your wish list?
BTW, how to buy a designer bag, and how to wear a wrap dress.
