Being from Texas, Cinco de Mayo is a holiday that I really love. People really go all out, and why not? The weather is usually really nice that time of year and everyone wants to be outside on a patio. So even though I don’t have any personal ties to the holiday, I do appreciate the tequila-fueled celebrations that surround it!

Mexican food, or Tex-Mex really, is one of my favorites so when there’s an excuse to have margaritas, chips, guac, salsa and one too many tacos, you can count me in! I know that Big Star and Taco Joint will be packed and if you don’t want to fight the crowds, you should make some pulled pork tacos at home! They’re so flavorful and really simple to make since it doesn’t require any fancy cooking skills, just patience.

Hosting a taco party is easy because you can have everything prepped beforehand. Whenever we throw parties, I never want to be tied to the kitchen and this type of set-up allows you to enjoy the party too.

Before your guests come over have an assembly line set up with plates, toppings, etc. so people can walk through and build their own tacos! The last thing you’ll need is a killer margarita recipe. This spiked mango margarita that my sister concocted looks amazing and so does this simple on-the-rocks jalapeno margarita from Shaheen. Clearly I like spicy, but if it’s not your thing, try a mojito!
